Stephen Dodd was born on July 15th, 1966 in Wales. He started playing golf at the age of 11 and in 1989 won the Amateur Championship at Royal Birkdale. A year later he turned pro but struggled on the Challenge Tour for several years. He attended Q-School no fewer than ten times.

He finally earnt his place on the European Tour in 1995 and gradually improved his position in the Order of Merit each season. He started the 2005 season in great fashion winning in China. Since then he has won twice more and lifted the World Cup alongside Bradley Dredge.
