John Daly was born on April 28th, 1966 in California, USA. He began playing at the age of 6. He attended the University of Arkansas before turning pro in 1987. He joined the PGA Tour in 1991 and won the US PGA Championship as a rookie. He was 9th reserve before the tournament started.

In 1995 he added a second major title when he won the Open Championship at St.Andrews, beating Costantina Rocca in a playoff. John Daly has been well known for his personal problems including gambling and alcohol. Despite this he is one of the most popular golfers on tour.
