John Cook was born on October 2nd, 1957 in Ohio, USA. He won the 1978 US Amateur Championship before turning pro the following year. Cook has been an excellent performer on the PGA Tour for over twenty years. In that time he has won eleven tournaments with his last win coming in 2001.

John Cook's best season was in 1992. He collected three victories on the PGA Tour and finished 3rd on the money list. These performances helped him win a place on the 1993 Ryder Cup team. Despite some injury problems Cook still plays on tour and had two each way finishes in 2006.
