KJ Choi was born on May 19th, 1968 in Wando, South Korea. He turned pro in 1994 and started his career on the Asian Tour. After winning an event in 1996 he progressed to the Japanese Tour. He won two events in Japan in 1999 and earnt his PGA Tour card later that year.
He became the first Korean player to earn their PGA Tour card. He had a poor rookie season and had to return to Q-school. In 2002 he became the first South Korean to win a PGA Tour event. Since then he has added six more titles to his name including one in Europe. |
