Mark Calcavecchia was born on June 12th, 1960 in Nebraska, USA. He attended the University of Florida and turned pro in 1981. He was on the PGA Tour just a year after turning pro and won his first tournament in 1986. Since then he has won another 12 times.
Calcavecchia's biggest win came in 1989 when he beat Greg Norman and Wayne Grady to win the Open Championship. He has had a lot of success at the Phoenix Open, winning the event on three separate occasions. In 2001 he broke the PGA Tour scoring record finishing at 28 under par. |
