David Branshaw was born on September 25th, 1969 in New York, USA. He turned pro in 1991 and took several years to establish himself. He first appeared on the PGA Tour in 2004 having finished T4 at the qualifying school the year before. He was unable to maintain his card.

The following season he played on the Nationwide Tour. He won the end of season Tour Championship to shoot up to 7th place in the rankings and win his place back on the PGA Tour. 2006 was then a better season for Branshaw as he finished 119th on the money list.
