Arjun Atwal was born on March 20th, 1973 in West Benegal, India. He started playing golf at the age of 14 and turned pro in 1995. He became one of the leading players on the Asian Tour and topped the 2003 Order of Merit. He also claimed two victories on the European Tour.

In 2003 he finished 7th at the PGA Tour qualifying school. This made Arjun Atwal the first ever Indian to play on the PGA Tour. In his rookie season on tour he failed to impress finishing 142nd on the money list. He was backed on the tour in 2005 and 2007 but lost his card on both occasions.
