Felipe Aguilar was born on November 7th, 1974 in Santiago, Chile. He was introduced to golf at the age of 9 by his grandfather who built several courses in Chile.He turned pro in 1999 and has won more than 30 events in Chile. In 2004 he broke a bone in his back and had to change his swing.

In 2007 he won twice on the Challenge Tour to secure his place on the European Tour. Then in 2008 he landed his maiden European Tour win thanks to a birdie on the 72nd hole to snatch the Indonesia Open by one shot from Jeev Mikha Singh.
