The Spanish Grand Prix was first raced in 1913. Its official name is the Gran Premio Telefonica de Espana and takes place in May. The race is held at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona over 66 laps. The current champion of the race is Kimi .Raikkonen.

The most successful driver in Spain is Michael Schumacher won the race eight times including four years running (2001 - 2004). In 2008 Raikkonen won the race for a second time. He started the race on pole position and also recorded the fastest lap.
