The Italian Grand Prix is one of the oldest races dating back to 1921. It has been part of the Formula One Championship since 1950. The official race name is Gran Premio Vodafone d'Italio. It is staged at the Autodromo Nazionala Monza in September over 53 laps.
Monza is famous for its long straights allowing the drivers to race on full throttle for a high portion of the track. The current champion is Fernando Alonso who not only won the race but started on pole position and recorded the races fastest lap. |
