The Chinese Grand Prix was first held in 2004 and takes place over 56 laps on the Shanghai International Circuit. It is held in October. The circuit is the most expensive formula one circuit ever built. The grand prix's official name is the Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix.

Since the race was introduced their have been four different winners. The current champion is Kimi Raikkonen whose victory went a long way to securing him the Drivers Championship in 2007. Lewis Hamilton had pole position but retired from the race.
