The Canadian Grand Prix is the most popular F1 race amongst spectators. In 2005 it had over 50 million TV viewers worldwide. The Grand Prix de Canada was first raced in 1967. It is held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, named after a Canadian driver that died in 1982 whilst racing.
The incident is one of a few awful crashes that have happened at the Canadian Grand Prix over the years. The race is held in June and is competed over 70 laps. The most successful driver over the years is Michael Schumacher with seven wins whilst Ferrari have claimed 11 victories. |
