Malaga play in the La Liga in Spain after winning promotion in 2008. They were founded in 1948 and play in blue and white stripes. Malaga play their home matches at the La Rosaleda Stadium which has a capacity of 22,800. They reached the Quarter Final of the UEFA Cup in 2003.

This is the only appearance that Malaga have made in European Competitions in recent seasons. They had impressive wins other AEK Athens and Leeds United to progress to the last eight of the competition. They were then unlucky in defeat losing out on penalties to Boavista.
