FC Basel play in the Swiss Super League. They were founded in 1893 and play in red and blue shirts, blue shorts and blue socks. FC Basel play at St.Jakob Park which has a capacity of 42,500. They reached the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup in 2006.

They had a great chance to progress further but threw away a 2 - 0 1st leg advantage against Middlesbrough losing 1 - 4 in the second leg. They reached the 2nd Group stage of the Champions League in 2003 only to go out on goal difference despite beating Juventus and drawing with Man Utd.
