Benfica play their football in the top division in Portugal. They were founded in 1904 and have won the Champions League twice. They play their home games at the Estadio da Luz which has a capacity of 65,647. They play in red shirts, white shorts and red socks.

Benfica are one of the top three teams from Portugal and won the European Cup in 1961 and 1962. More recently they had an excellent run in 2006. After finishing 2nd in their group ahead of Manchester United they knocked out defending champions Liverpool.
