Bayer Leverkusen play in the German Bundesliga. They were founded in 1904 and play in a red and black strip. They are nicknamed 'The Lions'. Bayer Leverkusen play their home matches in the Bay Arena which has a capacity of 22,500. They were runners up in the 2002 Champions League.

That season they were beaten 2 - 1 by Real Madrid in the final. They had excellent wins over Manchester United and Liverpool to make the final. Bayer Leverkusen also progressed to the 2nd Round of the competition in 2003 and 2005 but have struggled since.
