Aberdeen currently play their football in the Scottish Premier League and are nicknamed the Dons. They were founded in 1903. They play their home games at Pittordrie which has a capacity of 22,199. They had their most successful spell under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1980's.

Aberdeen had an excellent run in the UEFA Cup in 2007/08. In the first round they beat Dnipro of Ukraine on away goals. Then in the group stage an excellent 4 - 0 win in their final game over Copenhagen earnt them a home draw against European Giants Bayern Munich.

The first leg was played at Pittordrie and Aberdeen produced a superb performance to draw 2 - 2 with the German side. However Bayern Munich were too strong in the second leg winning 5 - 1 to knock Aberdeen out of the competition.
