Hartlepool United currently play their football in League One and are nicknamed the Pools. They are managed by Danny Wilson. They play their home games at Victoria Park which has a capacity of 7,691. They have never managed to win a major trophy or league title.

Hartlepool achieved promotion to League One in 2003. They then had two successive seasons reaching the playoffs on both occasions. Then in 2006 they were surprise strugglers at the foot of League One and were eventually relegated on the last day of the season.
