Burnley Football Club are based in North East Lancashire. They were formed in 1882 and play their home games at Turf Moor. Burnley have twice won the top division although it was some time ago. They are currently managed by Owen Coyle and play in the Championship.

In 1987 the club narrowly avoided being relegated from the football league but have since established themselves in the Championship. Burnley have been in the Championship since 2000 and their best finish in recent years was in 2001/02 when they missed out on a playoff place by a single goal.
