Spain have always been classed as under achievers in the World Cup with their best finish being fourth place back in 1950. Spain's only achievements came in the European Championships in 1964 and 2008 when they were crowned champions for a second time.
Spain finally lived up to their potential in Euro 2008. They won all three of their group games before beating a negative Italy on a penalty shoot out in the last eight. They then thrashed Russia 3 - 0 in the semi finals before landing the trophy with a 1 - 0 win over Germany in the final. |
