Poland have finished third in two World Cups in 1974 and 1982. They also reached the quarter finals in 1978 making this Poland best era in football. Poland have also qualified for the last two consecutive World Cups getting knocked out in the first round both times.

Poland's only competition win came in theOlympics in 1972 when they managed to beat Hungary 2 - 1 in the final to win the gold medal. They have also managed to win the silver medal twice in 1976 and 1992. Poland also qualified for the 2008 European Championships.
