Estonia played their first match in 1920. In 1940 Estonia was annexed by the Soviet Union and did not regain independence until 1991. Estonia have been consistently improving over the past few years seeing them win five matches and drawing two in the 2006 World Cup qualification.
Estonia were drawn in Group 3 in their attempt to qualify for the 2006 World Cup. Despite 5 victories and earning themselves 17 points they were unable to provide the big teams with a strong enough challenge and ultimately fell short, finishing in 4th place. |
