El Salvador is a country in Central America with a population of approximately 6.9 million people. El Salvador have qualified for two World Cups, the first was in Mexico 1970 and the second was in Spain 1982. They have also qualified for the Gold Cup four times.
El Salvador started off the 1970 World Cup poorly with a 3 - 0 defeat to Belgium and then they lost 4 - 0 to Mexico and 2 - 0 to USSR. Their 1982 campaign was even worse as they only took 20 players instead of 22 and lost their first match 10 -1 which is still a World Cup Record for the biggest win. |
