China are one of the strongest teams in Asia but have failed to win a major competition. Their only title win was in the East Asian Cup which they won in 2005. China is the national football team of the people republic of China. They were founded in 1924 and joined FIFA in 1931-58 and in 1979.

Football is widely followed in China and they had over three hundred million viewers in the 2002 World Cup in which they failed to score a single goal. There were possibly more viewers watching the 2004 Asian Cup Final, where they lost 3 - 1 to Japan.
