Bolivia are classed as one of the weakest teams from CONMEBOL but their greatest achievement came in 1963 when they won the Copa América. Bolivia have qualified for three World Cup's in 1930 ,1950 and more recently in 1994, but have failed to ever get passed the first round.

Although being one of the weakest teams in South America Bolivia have always been very tough to beat at home. This is mainly thanks to their home ground which is situated in the city of La Paz. It has a very high altitude (3,600 meters above sea level) to which the Bolivian team have acclimatized.
