Armenia played their football as part of USSR until the split of the Soviet Union. Their first competition on their own was the Euro 96 qualification. Their first International match was against Moldova in 1992. Current manager Ian Porterfield was the first manager to be sacked in the premiership.
In an attempt to qualify for the 2006 World Cup Armenia were drawn in Group 1 with the likes of Holland and Czech Republic. In their 12 matches they managed two victories both against Andorra. Their best result was a 0 - 0 draw at home to Romania. |
