Argentina are one of the most successful national sides in the world having won two World Cups and are currently world youth champions. Argentina have appeared in four World Cup finals losing to Uruguay in 1930 and more recently losing to West Germany in the 1990 final.
Argentina have not had a lot of success in recent times failing to win a major competition since 1993. They were knocked out of the group stages in the 2002 World Cup after entering the tournaments as one of the favorites. In the 2006 World Cup Argentina ended up losing to hosts Germany on penalties. |
