The Premier League of darts is a PDC event which was founded in 2005 with the aim of offering more live televised darts. It now runs from February to May with matches staged live on Sky Sports on Thursdays nights each week. The league consists of 8 players with the top 4 progressing to the finals.

The matches are played at different venues each week with each contest the first to 8 legs. The prize fund for the league has risen to £340,000 with £100,000 to the winner. Phil Taylor has dominated the event winning it three years running without losing a single match.
