John Walton was born on November 10th, 1961 in Bradford, England. He has the nickname John Boy and made his TV debut in 1999. The following year he won the World Masters. Despite this he went into the 2001 BDO World Championship as a 50/1 outsider.

He played some superb darts to progress to the final where he came up against defending champion Ted Hankey. Walton again played excellent darts to win the match 6 - 2 becoming the third player to hold the World Masters and World Championship in the same year.
