Vincent Van Der Voort was born on 18th December 1975 in Purmerend, Holland. He has the nickname Greased Lightning thanks to his quick throwing action. He was a member of the BDO between 2001 and 2007 before joining the PDC in January 2007.

In his first season he made a strong impact reaching the final of the UK Open. He had wins over Terry Jenkins and Colin Osbourne before losing to Raymond Van Barneveld in the final. In 2008 he was beaten 2 - 4 by Adrian Lewis in his debut in the PDC World Championship.
