Mark Salmon was born in Wales and made his TV debut in 1996. This came at Lakeside in the BDO World Championship. Salmon was comfortably beaten in the first round of the competition 0 -3 by Roland Scholten.

Ten years on Salmon qualified for the 2006 PDC World Championship for his second appearance on television. He was again unable to win a match losing in the first round to Dennis Smith 2 - 3.
