David Platt was born in England and made his TV debut in 2003 at the PDC World Championship. He was beaten in the qualifying round by Steve Brown. Platt has twice had excellent performances at the UK Open reaching the 5th Round in 2004 and 2007.

In 2007 his run came to end when he was defeated by Terry Jenkins in the last 32 . Platt also played in the 2006 World Championship but was drawn against Phil Taylor in the first round. It was no surprise that Taylor won the match comfortably by 3 sets to nil.
