Martin Phillips was born in Wales and made his TV debut in 1991. He has played in the BDO World Championship at Lakeside on 7 different occasions. His best run came in 1992 when he reached the Quarter Finals.

That year he defeated Eric Bristow before losing out to the eventual champion Phil Taylor. In 2008 Phillips was knocked out in Round 2 losing 0 - 4 to Martin Adams. He has reached the last 16 of the World Masters 4 times.
