Phil Nixon was born on March 13th, 1956 in County Durham, England. He made his TV debut in 2007 and has the nickname Nixy. He qualified for the BDO World Championship for the first time in 2007 and was a 150/1 outsider for the title.
He had wins over Darryl Fitton, Martin Atkins, Paul Hanvidge and Niels De Ruiter on his way to the final. He came up against Martin Adams and quickly found himself 0 - 6 down. However he fought back to 6 - 6 before losing the final set in what was a memorable final. |
