Wayne Mardle was born on May 10th, 1973 in Dagenham, England. He started playing at the age of 11 against his father. On his 13th birthday he won his first competition. He has the nickname Hawaii 501 because of the shirts he wears when he is playing.

Mardle is a favourite amongst fans because of his Hawaiian image and his dancing on stage. He is yet to win a major tournament but has twice reached the final in Las Vegas but lost to Phil Taylor on both occasions. He reached the semi-finals of the World Championship three years running (2004 - 2006).
