John Magowan was born on June 10th, 1941 in County Down, Northern Ireland. He made his TV debut in 2003 and is nicknamed 'Mr Magoo'. He is a three time national champion and a darts veteran. He has had some excellent performances in front of the cameras in recent years.

In 2005 he made his World Championship debut but lost in the first round. He then reached the quarter finals of the World Grand Prix. His best finish came in 2006 when he progressed right through to the semi-finals of the UK Open beating young star Adrian Lewis along the way.
