John Lowe was born on July 21st, 1945 in Derbyshire, England. He has the nickname the Old Stoneface and made darts popular in the 1970s and 1980s. He won the World Championship in three different decades in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He won the World Masters twice in 1976 and 1980.

John Lowe was the first player to hit the perfect 9 darter in 1984 winning him a cool £100,000. In 1993 he joined the PDC and twice reached the semi finals of the World Championship in 1995 and 1996. He last featured in a televised event in 2005.
