John Ferrell was born in England and made his TV debut in 1998. He had his best run in a televised event at the 1999 PDC World Championship. He recorded victories over Dennis Priestley and Gary Mawson before losing out to Alan Warriner Little in the Quarter Finals.

Ferrell also played in the BDO World Championship at Lakeside in 2002 but had less success losing in the first round. His last appearance in a televised event came in 2007 at the Las Vegas Classic. He lost out in the first round to Wayne Mardle 3 - 6.
