Albertino Essers was born on May 30th, 1969 in Oosterbeek, Holland. He has the nickname the Sensation and made his TV debut in 2006. In recent season he has made a name for himself by causing major upsets in the first round of the BDO World Championship at Lakeside.

In 2006 he beat Ted Hankey in the first round and then in 2007 he defeated the number two seed Gary Anderson in the opening match. Essers has struggled with dartitis during his career and still has problems controlling his nerves in crucial matches.
