Eric Clarys was born on October 18th, 1968 in Antwerp, Belgium. He is nicknamed 'The Sheriff' and made his TV debut in 1996. He has been ranked in the top 32 of the PDC rankings and is a former champion of the Belgian Open, Swedish Open and Dortmund Open.

Clarys has failed to impress in recent performances on TV and but did win the World Masters in 1995. He has a very unpredictable style of play trying lots of different ways to achieve simple check outs. This has sometimes been criticised by experts and may be a reason for his poor results.
