Steve Beaton was born on April 5th, 1964 in Coventry, England. He is nicknamed ' Magnum' and made his TV debut in 1994. His biggest win came in 1996 when he won the Embassy BDO World Championship. He then moved to the PDC rankings.

He has slowly slipped down the rankings in recent years despite some good showings in the major television events. In 2004 he reached the semi-finals of the UK Open and World Grand Prix. A year later he again performed well in the Grand Prix, this time reaching the Quarter Finals.
