Dave Askew was born on April 3rd, 1963 in Redhill, England. He is nicknamed 'Diamond Dave' and made his TV debut in 1989. In 2001 he made a real name for himself when he reached the semi-finals of the World Championship losing to Phil Taylor.

A year later he reached the same round only to again lose to Taylor. He has won several tournaments on the circuit keeping him around the top 20 in the rankings. He performed well in the 2006 UK Open eventually losing out in the fourth round.
