Steve Alker was born on February 14th, 1964 in Wales. He has the nickname The Snake Man and made his TV debut in 2001. That came at the BDO World Championship where he was beaten in the first round. The following year he lost in the first round of the World Masters.

In 2005 Alker joined the PDC and made a quick impact. He won 5 matches at the UK Open including a victory over Kevin Painter before losing to Phil Taylor. He also reached the third round of the 2006 PDC World Championship thanks to wins over Alan Caves and Denis Ovens.
