Martin Adams was born on June 4th 1965 in Cambridgeshire, England. He has been a member of the BDO since 1992 and made his Lakeside debut in 1994. In 2007 he finally won the BDO World Championship. It was his 14th start in the event where he had finished runner up in 2005.

He beat Phil Nixon in a dramatic final. Martin Adams was the clear favourite and raced into a 6 - 0. However Nixon picked up a few sets and Adams got more and more nervous. Nixon fought back to 6 - 6 in sets before Adams finally secured the win in the deciding set.
