- This tennis betting tip is from the first round at WTA Memphis between Vera Dushevina (89) and Madison Keys (256).
- 17 year old Keys is possibly an even better player than the other young American I'm backing today (Davis) who she beat 6-3 6-3 recently. She's also got more experience on the WTA tour with several wins under her belt.
- She was one of the youngest ever WTA players to win a match (at the age of 14 in 2009) and last year she beat Craybas (112) in straight sets at the US Open. She also took a set off Safarova (28) in that tournament.
- Due to her age she isn't allowed to play unlimited tournaments which is one reason why her ranking is so low. Some success this week could be important for her and allow her to play more WTA tournaments later this year.
- Two weeks ago she qualified for the ITF event in Midland, USA and took a set off Larcher de Brito (136).
- Dushevina is in poor form and is yet to win a main draw match this year.
- She perfectly fits the description of journeywoman. She's a decent enough player but never really challenges any of the top players and could be vulnerable against a talented youngster.
- She has no ranking points to defend this week and who knows how well prepared she'll be for this tournament having just arrived from Doha.
- With the somewhat unknown quantity of her young opponent and the involvement of the crowd she may not be able to find her form.
- The betting markets seem to indicate that Keys has a great chance here. A lot of money has been backing Keys at Pinnacles but some bookies are yet to respond.
- All the value is in backing the young American here and I'd be shocked if neither Davis or Keys were to win today.
- Bet with Bluesquare despite the fact they don't quite have the best odds as they would pay out on Keys as the winner if Dushevina were to retire at any stage.
