Key Points

  • This tennis betting tip is from the final of the Fed Cup played in Moscow on indoor hard-courts, between Russia and Czech Republic.
  • This is possibly best value bet I've ever seen. Why? Two words: Petra Kvitova!
  • Kvitova has been in great form in the last few weeks and is favourite to win the WTA Championships today.
  • Grass and indoor hard courts are her favourite surfaces and the Russians must now be kicking themselves for not having chosen an indoor clay court. Too late now!
  • This tournament has a similar format to Davis Cup (in men's team tennis) with 4 singles matches and 1 doubles match.
  • The only difference is that the doubles match comes after the last singles match, not after 2 matches as it does in Davis Cup.
  • Kvitova will be able to focus fully on winning her singles matches and I can't see that she will have too many problems.
  • Sharapova (currently injured and out of form) will not be playing so here are the line-ups for the two teams:
  • Russia: Zvonareva (6), Pavlyuchenkova (15), Kuznetsova (19) and Kirilenko (27)
  • Czech Republic: Kvitova (3), Safarova (24), Hradecka (46) and Peschke (2 in doubles).
  • Kirilenko is ranked 5 in doubles and Hradecka is ranked 15. None of the other players play much doubles.
  • Kvitova should have no problems winning her 2 singles matches. Zvonareva will put up a fight but she only won 6 games against her this week in Istanbul.
  • When a match gets tight the Russian still has severe mental weaknesses and lets the pressure get to her. I don't believe she has any chance of beating Kvitova even if the Czech plays worse than this week.
  • Kvitova should also beat the Russian number 2 without too many problems.
  • Neither Pavlyuchenkova or Kuznestova are in the type of form to beat the unofficial best player in the world on her favourite surface.
  • Safarova may be the weak link for the Czechs but she has been in pretty good form lately.
  • She's shown good form on indoor courts this year, reaching the final in Copenhagen and semi-finals in Moscow (where she took out Radwanska) and Linz.
  • She is probably capable of beating at least one of the Russian players. Zvonareva would be a big favourite against her but may choke under the pressure.
  • Kuznestova has the experience and is a calmer player on the court but has not been in good form lately. The score will probably be 2-2 after the singles matches but a score of 3-1 to the Czechs is more likely than 3-1 to the Russians.
  • Probably the match will all come down to the final doubles match. Kirilenko and Peschke will probably be involved in that match as they are doubles specialists.
  • I imagine that Kvitova would play with Peschke and given her recent form who would bet against her winning this match for the Czechs?
  • Even with a vocal Russian crowd behind them I can't see which two Russian player would be capable of winning a crucial doubles match in this situation.
  • You might think that Kvitova wouldn't be too bothered with this tournament after such a good week at the WTA Champs, well you'd be wrong.
  • Czech Republic is only a small country with 10.5 million people so winning a global tournament would mean everything to them.
  • This match may not dominate the headlines in the UK but in Czech Republic everyone will be talking about it.
  • There will also be a lot of vocal Czech supporters in the crowd (as there always are in Davis Cup) so Russian home advantage may not be so significant.
  • I would make the Czechs favourites for this tie so why are youwin offering such a ridiculous price? Well it's not a bookmaker error because a few weeks ago when both Kvitova and Safarova were out of form this price was about right.
  • Basically it seems that they have forgotten about this market in the last few weeks as other tournaments have had more attention.
  • I expect the Czechs to win the Fed Cup so this bet simply has to be taken asap!
