Key Points
- This tennis betting tip is from the Australian Open final between Novak Djokovic (1) and Rafael Nadal (2).
- It's clear to see why Djokovic is favourite in this match, he's won their last 6 matches and is world number 1. This is clearly a huge motivating factor for the Nadal however and having watched both semi-finals I'm confident there's value in backing Nadal on Sunday morning.
- Nadal played very well to overcome Federer. He was mentally strong on the big points and was basically able to play clay court tennis on a hard court.
- Also in his quarter-final against Berdych it was clear that the court just wasn't fast enough for an attacking player to be able to hit enough winners to beat him. Berdych and Federer both managed it for a set or so but in the end couldn't keep up their level of attacking play for long enough to beat Nadal.
- Nadal's serve looked much improved compared to last season and it got him out of trouble at times against Federer. Djokovic's serving wasn't great against Murray as he hit double faults on some crucial points.
- Djokovic found things tough physically against Murray and also struggled with his breathing against Ferrer. He doesn't seem to be quite at his peak physically and his movement on court hasn't been at his usual level.
- After a 5 hour match today he may still be feeling the effects on Sunday, while Nadal has an extra days rest from his 3 hour 40 minute win against Federer.
- Sunday will see temperatures as high as 36 degrees so I expect another very warm evening in Melbourne. This match is very likely to turn into a battle of fitness more than anything else. Nadal will be confident of success having watched today's semi-final and will feel that he has the beating of Djokovic in terms of fitness.
