Key Points

Radek Stepanek (#54) has been in great form this week at this ATP 500 tournament.
His quarter final win against Verdasco (#19) in straight sets was particularly impressive.
He's often played his best tennis on North American hard courts so his success this week is not too surprising.
He has an unusual gamestyle, using a lot of slice and trying to come into the net as often as possible.
It's a style of play that frustrates many of his opponents.
Gael Monfils (#7) may be at his highest ever ranking but his recent form is not really impressive.
This year none of his results have been worthy of a top 10 player apart from a good run to the quarters in Paris.
Monfils had a good win last night beating Isner (#35) 7-6 in the third set but the match didn't finish until about 1.15am East Coast time.
Coming back to play the final at 3pm today will be very tough for Monfils both physically and mentally.
Stepanek won his semi-final against Young (#128) much earlier yesterday afternoon in straight sets and will be much better rested and probably better prepared.
Monfils leads the head to head 5-2 but I remember watching Stepanek destroy Monfils in Brisbane 18 months ago 6-2 6-1. In that match Monfils was totally unable to respond to Stepanek's variety of shots and all court play.
I really don't think there will be much to choose between these players today and therefore all the value lies with Stepanek.
