- His serving stats look pretty good. He's won well over 80% of points on first serve. Of course this is nothing compared to Karlovic but the Croat will not have had much time to get used to the conditions here.
- Karlovic's record indoors is not as good as you might expect. Since September 2008 he's not managed to win more than 2 matches in a row.
- My feeling is that Karlovic may tank this match as a favour to a young talented player from a neighbouring country.
- He has certainly done this sort of thing before. You only need to look at his loss against Kudla (394) in Newport this year and Gregorc (434) in New Haven in 2008 for examples of this.
- Even when Karlovic gives 100% his matches often become a lottery as his groundstrokes are often so weak. On a fast court his returns can be very ineffective.
- I reckon Bedene has a great chance of winning this match and these odds look very good value.
