- He has had such a good year and has already almost maxed on his results at this level of tournament (ATP500).

- He's never won a match at this tournament and I don't expect it to happen today, especially with this shoulder injury hampering him.
- I don't know how serious the injury is, my feeling is that it's simply an excuse that he will be able to use after losing this match.
- He needs to focus all his efforts on the Paris Masters next week which is where, if he's successful, he could still make it to the ATP finals in London.
- Monaco is mainly a claycourter but he's not bad on hard. He always seems to put in 100% on court and if Almagro is off his game Monaco will certainly take his chances to win the match.
- He desperately needs to win some matches after a period of poor form and struggling with a foot injury recently.
- He's back to full fitness now though and I see no reason why he won't win today's match.
